Gustavo A. Madero | Corporate, Estate & Immigration Attorney
Gustavo is a cross-border attorney licensed in Mexico, California, and New York, and admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States. He advises individuals, families, and business owners on corporate, probate/estate planning, immigration, and cross-border legal matters, helping them navigate complex transitions between the United States and Mexico with clarity, structure, and long-term vision.
Gustavo was born into a family legacy deeply rooted in service and social responsibility. He carries the name of his great-great-grandfather, Gustavo A. Madero, a key historical figure in Mexico who, alongside Francisco I. Madero, played an important role in shaping the country’s path toward social change. This heritage instilled in him a strong sense of purpose and a commitment to using his profession as a means to create meaningful impact.
His practice is grounded in the belief that the law should be a tool for growth and empowerment. Gustavo is driven by a genuine commitment to helping his clients build, protect, and expand what matters most, whether that means growing a business, protecting family assets, or navigating life transitions across borders. This philosophy is also at the core of the firm’s broader mission to serve the Mexican and Mexican-American community with integrity and long-term perspective.
Gustavo began his legal career in Mexico City, earning his law degree from Universidad Iberoamericana and working at leading law firms where he focused on corporate law, as well as civil and commercial litigation. This early experience provided him with a strong technical foundation and a practical understanding of the legal and business challenges faced by companies and entrepreneurs.
To further develop his cross-border expertise, Gustavo moved to Chicago, where he earned a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law, along with a Certificate in Business Administration from the Kellogg School of Management. This combination of legal and business education strengthened his ability to approach legal matters with a strategic, business-oriented mindset.
He later served as in-house counsel for an international company with operations across the United States, Mexico, and Europe. In this role, he led complex cross-border transactions spanning the Americas, Asia, and Europe, gaining firsthand experience in global business operations, risk management, and international legal coordination. During this time, he also completed the Harvard Management Mentor Program, further enhancing his leadership and decision-making skills.
Building on this international experience, Gustavo founded his own practice and now leads the firm’s operations from its offices in Los Angeles, California, and Guadalajara, Mexico. His work focuses on corporate and business law, probate / estate planning, and immigration matters, offering clients a fully integrated cross-border legal strategy.
Fully bilingual in English and Spanish, Gustavo provides clear, culturally aware guidance to clients navigating both legal systems. His ability to bridge jurisdictions, combined with his business background, allows him to deliver practical, results-oriented solutions tailored to each client’s goals.
Outside of his legal practice, Gustavo is a husband and father of three. He is also passionate about sailing, a discipline that reflects his approach to both life and law: thoughtful navigation, strategic decision-making, and the ability to adapt to changing conditions while staying focused on a clear destination.
